What authentication does the connector use?
A Perplexity API key as a bearer credential — not OAuth. There is no per-tool permission model, so scoping is whatever that key grants, and IntelliPaaS holds it in the platform rather than in client configuration.
Does it cost money to use?
Yes, and this is the key thing to plan for. Every tool call is billed to the connected API key at standard API pricing, and that key's existing rate limits apply. We budget and cache calls accordingly.
Can it change anything?
No. All four tools — search, ask, research and reason — are read-only and write nothing to any Perplexity account state. Note that they map onto API presets rather than pinned model names, so behaviour can change as those presets are retuned.
