Connect Bitbucket Without Constraints

IntelliPaaS seamlessly connects Bitbucket with your core business systems, enabling no-code integration for code review, CI/CD orchestration and release governance across cloud, on-prem and hybrid environments.

Bitbucket Cloud is not a standalone MCP server — it is a product surface inside the Atlassian Rovo MCP Server at mcp.atlassian.com, which also carries Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management and Compass. That makes cross-product automation straightforward, but it comes with one important caveat: the Bitbucket tools authenticate with scoped API tokens rather than OAuth, and an administrator has to enable API token auth in Atlassian Administration before they work. Access is bounded by read_bitbucket and write_bitbucket scopes plus the user's own repository permissions, and IP allowlists apply to MCP traffic. Support is Bitbucket Cloud only, and the workspace must be linked to an Atlassian organisation. Connecting Bitbucket to IntelliPaaS puts code, review and deployment state in the same automated flow as the tickets that drove them.

Bitbucket integration capabilities

  • Read workspaces, repositories, users and repository content.
  • Read pull requests, pipelines, environments and deployments.
  • Create and update pull requests, comment, approve and merge.
  • Create commits and branches through repository content operations.
  • Run and manage pipelines, and create, update or delete environments.
  • Combine Bitbucket tools with Jira, Confluence, JSM and Compass on the same server.

These capabilities keep delivery state visible outside the repository, so release status, review progress and deployment history reach the systems that report on them. IntelliPaaS handles pagination, field mapping and data type transformation automatically.

Common integration scenarios

  • Transition Jira issues automatically when a pull request merges or a deployment succeeds.
  • Raise a ServiceNow or PagerDuty record when a production pipeline fails.
  • Post pull request and pipeline digests into Slack or Microsoft Teams.
  • Publish release notes into Confluence or Notion from merged pull requests.
  • Load deployment frequency and lead time metrics into Power BI or Snowflake.

These scenarios address the most common friction in delivery reporting — release state that lives only in the repository, and tickets that never learn what shipped — by automating the flows between Bitbucket and the platforms around it.

Deployment & security

Flexible deployment is essential for organisations operating in regulated industries or jurisdictions with strict data residency requirements. IntelliPaaS supports private cloud and on-premise deployments with full regional data sovereignty, which matters here because Atlassian publishes a single global Rovo MCP endpoint with no documented MCP-specific residency. All deployment modes receive the same feature set, connector library and support tier, with no capability trade-offs based on deployment choice.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What authentication does the connector use?

Bitbucket Cloud tools on the Atlassian Rovo MCP Server support API tokens with scopes — read_bitbucket and write_bitbucket — rather than OAuth. An administrator must enable API token authentication in Atlassian Administration first, and access is still bounded by the user's own Bitbucket permissions.

Does it work with Bitbucket Data Center or Server?

No. Only Bitbucket Cloud is supported, and the workspace must be linked to an Atlassian organisation before the tools will work.

Can it write to repositories?

Yes, under the write_bitbucket scope: creating and updating pull requests, commenting, approving and merging, creating commits and branches, running pipelines and managing environments.

Can I deploy on-premise or in a private cloud?

Yes. Cloud (SaaS), private cloud in your own VPC, and fully on-premise or air-gapped deployments are all supported, with full feature parity across every mode.

Is my data secure?

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and IntelliPaaS is GDPR-ready. Token scopes limit what any agent can reach, Atlassian IP allowlists apply to MCP requests, and on-prem modes keep the integration layer inside your own infrastructure boundary.
