Connect Algolia Without Constraints

IntelliPaaS seamlessly connects Algolia with your core business systems, enabling no-code integration for catalogue indexing, search analytics and merchandising workflows across cloud, on-prem and hybrid environments.

Algolia runs two hosted MCP servers, and the difference matters. The Public MCP server is per-application, needs no authentication at all — the instance URL is the credential — and is scoped by the search API key bound to it, which makes it the one to point customer-facing agents at. The Productivity MCP server uses OAuth and is scoped to the signed-in user's Algolia permissions, and adds a broad analytics surface: top searches, no-results queries, click positions, filter analysis and geography. Both are strictly read-only, so neither can create, update or delete indices, records or settings — IntelliPaaS handles the write side through Algolia's indexing APIs. There is a limit of five MCP instances per application, and calls count against your existing plan rather than a separate MCP fee.

Algolia integration capabilities

  • Search any index and search for facet values.
  • Retrieve recommendations for a record or a user.
  • Read top searches, no-results queries and click position analytics.
  • Analyse filter usage and geographic search patterns.
  • Expose search to customer-facing agents through an application-scoped public instance.
  • Push catalogue and content updates into Algolia indices through IntelliPaaS.

These capabilities keep search relevance grounded in the same catalogue and analytics the rest of the business uses, so merchandising decisions are made on current data. IntelliPaaS handles field mapping, batching and data type transformation automatically.

Common integration scenarios

  • Keep Algolia indices in step with Shopify, BigCommerce or Adobe Commerce catalogue changes.
  • Sync stock and price changes so out-of-stock products drop out of results.
  • Load no-results and zero-click queries into Power BI or Snowflake for merchandising review.
  • Index content from a CMS or knowledge base alongside product records.
  • Give a customer-facing assistant read-only search over a scoped public instance.

These scenarios address the most common friction in site search — indices that lag the catalogue, and search analytics nobody outside the search team ever sees — by automating the flows between Algolia and the platforms around it.

Deployment & security

Flexible deployment is essential for organisations operating in regulated industries or jurisdictions with strict data residency requirements. IntelliPaaS supports private cloud and on-premise deployments with full regional data sovereignty, and Algolia's public endpoint is derived from your own application host. All deployment modes receive the same feature set, connector library and support tier, with no capability trade-offs based on deployment choice.

Why IntelliPaaS

  • No-code to pro-code flexibility for all integration needs.
  • End-to-end security with API-key-scoped public instances and OAuth for internal use.
  • Read-only servers, so index integrity stays with your own indexing pipeline.
  • Enterprise-grade observability with monitoring, alerting and audit logging.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the two Algolia servers?

The Public MCP server is per-application, requires no authentication, and is bounded by the search API key attached to that instance — use it for customer-facing agents. The Productivity MCP server uses OAuth, is scoped to the signed-in user's permissions, and adds analytics tools for internal teams.

Can it change indices or records?

No. Both servers are strictly read-only — they can search, recommend and analyse but cannot create, update or delete indices, records or settings. IntelliPaaS handles indexing writes through Algolia's own APIs.

Are there usage limits or extra costs?

There is a limit of five MCP instances per application, and usage counts toward your existing Algolia plan with each tool call typically equal to one API request. There is no separate MCP fee.

Can I deploy on-premise or in a private cloud?

Yes. Cloud (SaaS), private cloud in your own VPC, and fully on-premise or air-gapped deployments are all supported, with full feature parity across every mode.

Is my data secure?

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and IntelliPaaS is GDPR-ready. Public instances are bounded by the search key they carry, the Productivity server honours user permissions, and on-prem modes keep catalogue data inside your own infrastructure boundary.
