Connect Collibra Without Constraints

IntelliPaaS seamlessly connects Collibra with your core business systems, enabling no-code integration for data governance, lineage discovery and catalogue maintenance across cloud, on-prem and hybrid environments.

Collibra's MCP server became generally available in mid-2026 and runs on your own Collibra instance rather than a shared endpoint, so residency follows your deployment. Authentication is OAuth 2.0 — an admin registers an application to get a client ID and secret, with authorization code flow for users and client credentials for machine-to-machine — and the server acts as the identity you provide, respecting that account's Collibra permissions with no separate MCP permission model. Twenty-eight tools cover business glossary and asset discovery, column and table semantics, upstream and downstream lineage, data classification search and data contracts, with six write tools for creating and editing assets, managing classification matches and pushing contract manifests. The commercial detail to plan for: the two natural-language discovery tools consume Collibra Units billed to your organisation, so IntelliPaaS caches and batches those calls.

Collibra integration capabilities

  • Discover the business glossary and data assets through natural language.
  • Read asset details, business term data, and column and table semantics.
  • Trace upstream and downstream lineage, entities and transformations.
  • Search assets by keyword, data class and classification match.
  • Create and edit assets, and add or remove data classification matches.
  • Initialise, pull and push data contract manifests.

These capabilities let governance metadata reach the systems that build and consume data, so definitions and lineage are available where the work happens. IntelliPaaS handles field mapping, caching and data type transformation automatically.

Common integration scenarios

  • Register new tables and columns in Collibra as they appear in Snowflake, Databricks or BigQuery.
  • Surface business term definitions and lineage inside a BI or engineering workflow.
  • Apply and reconcile data classifications against a scanning or DLP tool.
  • Push data contract manifests as part of a pipeline release.
  • Alert Slack when an upstream change affects a governed downstream asset.

These scenarios address the most common friction in data governance — a catalogue that drifts from the platforms it describes, and lineage nobody can reach at the moment they need it — by automating the flows between Collibra and the platforms around it.

Deployment & security

Flexible deployment is essential for organisations operating in regulated industries or jurisdictions with strict data residency requirements. IntelliPaaS supports private cloud and on-premise deployments with full regional data sovereignty, and because the Collibra MCP endpoint is your own instance, residency follows your Collibra deployment. All deployment modes receive the same feature set, connector library and support tier, with no capability trade-offs based on deployment choice.

Why IntelliPaaS

  • No-code to pro-code flexibility for all integration needs.
  • End-to-end security with OAuth 2.0 and permissions inherited from the connecting Collibra account.
  • Caching and batching on the two metered discovery tools, so governance queries stay affordable.
  • Enterprise-grade observability with monitoring, alerting and audit logging.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What authentication does the connector use?

OAuth 2.0. An admin registers an application in Collibra to obtain a client ID and secret — authorization code flow for end users, client credentials for machine-to-machine. The server acts as the identity you provide and respects that account's Collibra permissions.

Does it cost anything to use?

The server itself is free, but two tools consume Collibra Units billed to your organisation — the natural-language business glossary and data asset discovery tools, which are exactly the ones an agent calls most. IntelliPaaS caches and batches those calls to keep spend predictable.

Can it change governed assets?

Yes, through six write tools: creating and editing assets, adding and removing data classification matches, and initialising and pushing data contract manifests. Everything else is read, and two tools are marked experimental and may change without notice.

Can I deploy on-premise or in a private cloud?

Yes. Cloud (SaaS), private cloud in your own VPC, and fully on-premise or air-gapped deployments are all supported, with full feature parity across every mode.

Is my data secure?

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and IntelliPaaS is GDPR-ready. The endpoint is on your own Collibra instance, access follows the connecting account's permissions, and on-prem modes keep governance metadata inside your own infrastructure boundary.
