Connect Looker Without Constraints

IntelliPaaS seamlessly connects Looker with your core business systems, enabling no-code integration for governed metrics, dashboard distribution and LookML automation across cloud, on-prem and hybrid environments.

Looker's MCP server runs on your own instance rather than a shared vendor endpoint: the address is simply your Looker URL with /mcp appended, and every request inherits the signed-in user's Looker roles and content permissions. Access is OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, and each agent has to be registered by an administrator before it can connect. Every tool is disabled by default, so an admin decides exactly which of the model, query, content, LookML and instance-health tools an agent can reach. Because the endpoint is your instance, VPC Service Controls and CMEK apply automatically. Connecting Looker to IntelliPaaS means the metrics your business already agreed on can drive downstream workflows, instead of being re-derived in every other tool.

Looker integration capabilities

  • Read models, explores, dimensions, measures, filters and parameters.
  • Run governed queries and return results, SQL or shareable query URLs.
  • Retrieve and run Looks and dashboards, including embed URL generation.
  • Create Looks, dashboards, dashboard elements and filters where write tools are enabled.
  • Read and update LookML project files in development mode.
  • Query instance health, connection schemas, databases, tables and columns.

These capabilities let governed Looker metrics reach the systems that act on them, so the definition of a number stays in one place while the number itself travels. IntelliPaaS handles field mapping, pagination and data type transformation automatically.

Common integration scenarios

  • Push governed Looker metrics into Power BI, Snowflake or BigQuery for blended reporting.
  • Distribute scheduled Look results into Slack, Google Sheets or email digests.
  • Trigger operational workflows in Salesforce or ServiceNow when a Looker metric crosses a threshold.
  • Sync LookML field definitions with a data catalogue or governance register.
  • Feed Looker query output into forecasting and planning systems on a schedule.

These scenarios address the most common friction in analytics operations — numbers that disagree between the BI tool and the systems around it, and reports that have to be exported by hand — by automating the flows between Looker and the rest of the stack.

Deployment & security

Flexible deployment is essential for organisations operating in regulated industries or jurisdictions with strict data residency requirements. IntelliPaaS supports private cloud and on-premise deployments with full regional data sovereignty, and because the Looker MCP endpoint is your own instance URL, residency follows wherever that instance already lives. All deployment modes receive the same feature set, connector library and support tier, with no capability trade-offs based on deployment choice.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What authentication does the connector use?

OAuth 2.1 with PKCE against your own Looker instance. There is no dynamic client registration — a Looker admin registers each agent first — and access is limited to the signed-in user's Looker roles and content permissions.

Can it write back to Looker?

Yes, where an admin allows it. Alongside the read tools there are write tools for creating Looks, dashboards, dashboard elements and filters, and for editing LookML project files in development mode. Every tool is disabled by default and marked read or write in the admin panel.

How long does setup take?

Most Looker integrations are quick to deploy, and pre-built packs need no technical team. A Looker admin first enables the MCP platform setting and selects the tools to expose, which takes a few minutes.

Can I deploy on-premise or in a private cloud?

Yes. Cloud (SaaS), private cloud in your own VPC, and fully on-premise or air-gapped deployments are all supported, with full feature parity across every mode.

Is my data secure?

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and IntelliPaaS is GDPR-ready. Because the endpoint is your own Looker instance, VPC Service Controls and CMEK apply automatically and all activity is written to System Activity and Cloud Audit Logs.
