Connect Metabase Without Constraints

Metabase's MCP server runs inside your own Metabase rather than on vendor infrastructure — the endpoint is your instance URL with /api/metabase-mcp appended, on Cloud or self-hosted alike. Authentication uses an embedded OAuth 2.0 authorization server with dynamic client registration, so no external identity provider is needed, and results respect the user's existing collection and data permissions. The tool set reads and writes: querying tables and metrics with a two-thousand row cap, reading entities through metabase:// URIs, and creating or updating collections, dashboards and questions. The detail admins should know is that raw SQL execution is governed by a setting that is enabled by default. An authorizations tab logs every client registration and approval.
