Connect AfterShip Without Constraints

IntelliPaaS seamlessly connects AfterShip with your core business systems, enabling no-code integration for delivery tracking, returns processing and post-purchase experience across cloud, on-prem and hybrid environments.

AfterShip runs more than one MCP surface. A public tracking server needs no authentication at all and covers shipment tracking across 1,200 or more carriers with automatic carrier detection, returning no personal data — useful for customer-facing agents, though AfterShip rate-limits it and expects commercial licensing for volume. The post-purchase server is the operational one: OAuth with organisation selection at login, Streamable HTTP only with SSE and stdio explicitly unsupported, and twenty-two tools split roughly evenly between reading and writing. Those writes are consequential — approving and rejecting returns, receiving items, resolving RMAs and marking shipments delivered or lost — so IntelliPaaS runs them behind approval steps. A third server covers channel operations. The post-purchase endpoint URL is not yet published; installation is through the login flow.

AfterShip integration capabilities

  • Track shipments across 1,200 or more carriers with automatic carrier detection.
  • List and retrieve shipments and their field options.
  • Update, retrack and mark the status of shipments.
  • List and retrieve returns, return workflows, allowlists and blocklists.
  • Approve, reject, receive and resolve returns, and add comments.
  • Manage return allowlist and blocklist entries.

These capabilities let delivery and returns state drive the systems that answer customers and account for the money, rather than sitting in a separate portal. IntelliPaaS handles field mapping, pagination and data type transformation automatically.

Common integration scenarios

  • Surface live tracking status against tickets in Zendesk, Freshdesk or Intercom.
  • Trigger a refund in the commerce platform when a return is received and resolved.
  • Notify customers through Klaviyo or SMS on delivery exceptions and delays.
  • Sync shipment and returns data into Power BI or Snowflake for logistics reporting.
  • Create returns in AfterShip from Shopify, BigCommerce or Adobe Commerce order records.

These scenarios address the most common friction in post-purchase — ‘where is my order’ tickets, returns approved in one system and refunded in another — by automating the flows between AfterShip and the platforms around it.

Deployment & security

Flexible deployment is essential for organisations operating in regulated industries or jurisdictions with strict data residency requirements. IntelliPaaS supports private cloud and on-premise deployments with full regional data sovereignty, which matters here because AfterShip publishes a single global endpoint with no regional variants. All deployment modes receive the same feature set, connector library and support tier, with no capability trade-offs based on deployment choice.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What authentication does the connector use?

The operational post-purchase and channels servers use an OAuth browser flow, and you choose which AfterShip organisation the agent may act on during login. The public tracking server needs no authentication at all and returns no personal data.

Can it approve returns?

Yes. The post-purchase server can approve and reject returns, receive items, resolve RMAs, add comments and manage allowlists and blocklists, as well as update and retrack shipments. Because these act on live merchant state, IntelliPaaS runs them behind approval steps.

Are there usage limits?

The public tracking endpoint is intended for reasonable interactive use — bulk lookups and high-volume automation need commercial licensing, and AfterShip may throttle. SSE and stdio are not supported on the post-purchase server; it is Streamable HTTP only.

Can I deploy on-premise or in a private cloud?

Yes. Cloud (SaaS), private cloud in your own VPC, and fully on-premise or air-gapped deployments are all supported, with full feature parity across every mode.

Is my data secure?

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and IntelliPaaS is GDPR-ready. The public tracking server returns no personal data, operational access is organisation-scoped, and on-prem modes keep order data inside your own infrastructure boundary.
